If you spend a lot of time with Pinterest like me, you may have wondered can you really make money on Pinterest?
I presume you were browsing the net trying to search how to make money on Pinterest.
When I first started to use Pinterest to grow my Affiliate Hub Blog brand, I had no clue that you could make money on Pinterest.
It never really crossed my mind because I was just focused on growing my blog visitors using Pinterest.
So, below I am laying down the 8 Definitive Ways to Start Making Money on Pinterest in 2019…
1. Start Your Own Blog
If you have heard about blogging, well now is the time to jump right in.
Starting a blog is not difficult and to help you get started with blogging you may wish to read through my previously written post on Six Best Tips for Blogging for Beginners 2019.
To be honest, you really don’t need any blogging experience to get started with your first blog.
If you are serious about growing your blogging business, I suggest you start off with WordPress and get a domain name built and hosting done from SiteGround.
SiteGround is possibly the best web host out there for beginner bloggers, and I am pretty open about this.
Owning a blog is a great way to promote your blog link on your Pinterest Profile.
Just make sure to claim your WordPress blog by downloading the Yoast SEO Plugin.
Now there are some talks going about on the net that you can make money with Piniterest by directly promoting affiliate links to your Pinterest Pins. But, that’s not the smartest way to go about and I strongly believe having your own professional blog is a great way to provide quality content to your readers and recommending them affiliate products in the form of product reviews.
2. With Affiliate Marketing
If you are looking for a great way to make money with Pinterest with or without a blog thenis a good choice.
Affiliate Marketing is one of the most common methods of making money online.
It’s also one of the best ways to make money blogging.
A study has even shown that affiliate marketing is the most common way that bloggers use to make money.
This is why a lot of people are getting into affiliate marketing in recent times.
Affiliate marketing is the process in which an online retailer pays you commission for sales or traffic obtained from your referrals.
This means that you shall be advertising another party’s product in return for a commission.
So whenever one of your audience clicks on the referral link to purchase a product, you will get a commission.
So, how can you promote affiliate marketing products on Pinterest?
One way to do this is to create content with links to your blog and direct all the traffic to your blog using Pinterest.
Before you start affiliate marketing with Pinterest, you’ll need to –
- Grow your following
- Pin on a regular basis
- Boost your monthly views
3. Create Niche Pinterest Boards Relevant to Your Blog
If you have gone through my blog, you may have noticed I like to specialize in the Affiliate Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Make Money Online, and Digital Marketing niche.
Based on my blog niche categories, I design my Pinterest Boards accordingly.
I mean, why would I go for Food Recipes, Dog Walk Tips, and Health Fitness if my blog is not relevant to these niches? 🙂
So, create boards that are related to your blog.
Every time you publish a new blog post, create a pin with good graphic using the Canva tool and pin it in your relevant Board niche.
4. Become a Pinterest Virtual Assistant
You can act as a Pinterest Virtual Assistant by assisting other bloggers with their Pinterest accounts.
Most of the time, most bloggers don’t get a lot of time to pin other people’s pins on Pinterest.
This is where you come in!
Most professional bloggers don’t mind hiring/outsourcing Pinterest Virtual Assistants to manage their Pinterest accounts.
Not only for bloggers, but they do cater also for social media influencers, and online business owners to optimize their Pinterest accounts.
Typical tasks for a Pinterest virtual assistant include designing Pinterest graphics, creating boards, scheduling pins, getting to know group boards, and much more!
Pinterest virtual assistants, depending on experience and skills, can expect to earn at least $25- $50 per hour.
Pro Tip: You can outsource a Pinterest Virtual Assistant from Fiverr. It costs anywhere between $30-$50 for managing one of your Pinterest accounts.
You need some skills to become a virtual assistant on Pinterest.
I suggest you follow Pinterest marketing trends, learn how to use a Pinterest scheduler such as Tailwind, and become familiar with graphic design software such as Photoshop or Canva.
To reach customers, reach out to bloggers and business owners who look like they are using some kind of Pinterest help and service.
5. Sell a Course on Pinterest
This is a very unique strategy but an effective one.
A great tool to promote your affiliate offer or a high ticket affiliate offer.
This is similar to the second idea in the list (affiliate marketing), but instead of using Pinterest to promote someone else’s Pin, you use a platform to sell your product/eBook course.
The easiest way to do this is to create a digital product, such as anor online course.
I suggest you offer them the eBook for FREE by directing them to a downloadable PDF link or a Google Drive Link.
You really don’t need to write a 10 page eBook.
It can even be a 4 page eBook, but with value quality content providing a solution to your readers, like, Ways to get back in shape after Pregnancy, How to Cut Down on Your Bills, etc.
If you are not into writing an eBook, then you can always outsource an eBook writer from Fiverr.
Make sure to redirect your readers to your main product or a sign-up page through your eBook.
To generate sales, you can create more Pinterest graphics that promote your product and share them on Pinterest.
Pro Tip: Use Canva to make stunning pins that will drive massive traffic to your blog post with affiliate links. I like to use the Free version and it’s more enough for beginners.
You can also link to an Etsy shop or other online marketplaces where you sell your products.
6. Become a Sponsor for a Brand on Pinterest
This is only possible once you start dominating your Pinterest niche markets.
Brands are willing to influence influential Pinterest users for collaboration, so if you follow Pinterest significantly, this is the choice for you!
Pinterest itself offers some suggestions on how Pinners can interact with brands in paid campaigns.
If you want to find brands that can work with paid campaigns, you can either go directly to the brands or join an influencer market such as Izea, which connects the brands with the influencers.
7. Start Re-Pining other Pinners
We all know that Pinterest is a social network which is very similar to the Facebook model.
Pinterest is not only about pinning your pins but also re-pining other people’s pin on your and other Pinterest boards.
Pin others pins, particularly those people in your target audience.
They may start to notice you and even start following your boards.
To be honest, the way I like to go about it is to reach other personally by sending them a message on Pinterest and requesting them to be a contributor for your a one of your Pinterest Boards.
Pro Tip: Always try to target users who are affiliated with the same niche as yours and whose number of followers are the same or lower than yours. Say, if I have 2500+ followers on Pinterest, I would then like to target a few users who have the same number of followers and lower than mine.
Here is a below screenshot of how I was able to attract a user to be one of my board contributors.
Not to mention you also need to send them your Pinterest Board Invite (refer to the above screenshot) for them to accept and start re-pining their pins on your Board.
8. Make Money by Teaching Pinterest Strategies to Others
You should only apply this strategy once you have become a well established Pinterest Influencer with a large number of followers.
After you have been using Pinterest for a while, consider making money by teaching your strategies to other newbie Pinterest users.
Like I said before, creating an eBook and courses teaching what you have learned is the best way to go about it.
Pro Tip: If you are serious about growing your Pinterest business then I recommend you to take a course on Fiverr Learn!
I have written an article on this previously on Learn from Fiverr: Certified Courses for Freelancers.
Pinterest has over 250+ million users worldwide and its reach is enormous.
This is by far the easiest social media platform medium to help you generate some serious income.
All you need to do is to get your strategies right.
I really think Pinterest has a lot to offer different opportunities to its user to help them make money online.
It’s safe to say Pinterest is here to stay in the long run and opportunities will just keep growing.
Hope this helps!
