Writing a Blog Post for Beginners 2019
I feel for someone sitting down and writing a blog post regularly seems like a daunting task.
All kind of questions swirl through your head and I also have those same questions.
Questions like where do I start, what am I going to say, how many words do I use, how do I get my point across.
All of these questions swirl around the minds of a blogger, whether he/she is a beginner or an experienced blogger.
To be honest, you don’t have to be a pro blogger or an eloquent writer.
You just have something to say that would help you connect with your target audience and the value which you would like to provide to your target audience.
They aren’t looking for a masterpiece from you.
So, what do you do when it’s time to start writing a new blog post or your very first blog post.

Sometimes, having your general outline can help you kick start your juices and write that new blog topic which you really want to work on and eventually publish it on to your blog post.
Below are my 10 Tips on How to Write a Blog Post for Beginners 2019 which would help you get started to write your very own blog post
#1 Do Your Research and Plan What You Want to Write About
Personally, I feel it takes a couple of hours 2-3 hours max for me to write a compelling blog post article.
It may take a bit longer or even an entire day if you are a newbie blogger.
Before you start typing your very first blog post, it may be a good idea for you as a blogger to spend those vital minutes to plan your post, i.e., what topic would you like to write about, what sort of value you can provide to your readers, how would your post be unique from other writers, and things like that.
#2 Have a Compelling Title
This is a very critical process before you start writing your blog post. It’s very essential to have a compelling title because more people will read your title than actually read your blog post.
So, you need to have a title to help your readers want to read your blog article.
If your title is not strong and interesting, then you already lost your readers attention.
The first impression of your blog article title always counts.
There is a say, the first impression is the last impression.
#3 Your Main Content
It’s very important to have a lead paragraph that will help you to sum up your blog post.
Your lead paragraph should get right to the purpose of your post, i.e. what message are your exactly trying to convey to your audience and make it relevant to the reader.
After the title, this could be the most important part of your post. If you take too long to summarize what your article to convey to your reader you may lose their interest.
The main point here is to keep your readers engaged with your post and your content for sure should be attention-grabbing.
Keep your content short, concise and keep it strong. Focus on what topic you want to write about and stick with the topic.
Do not try to run around the bush and be vague with your content. Hope you understand what I’m trying to say here. And as a blogger, Yes, thinking counts before you write your blog post.
The point here is to be consistent with your blog post.
Don’t expect all and each of your blog posts to be a star attention grabber by your readers.
Some of your posts may be getting less engagement and some or a few of them may get a lot of engagement from your readers and even a high amount of appreciation and appraisals.
So, not every post is going to get your motor running.
#4 Put Those Right Relevant High-Resolution Images for Your Blog Post
It’s not me but studies have shown that if you post relevant images and I mean great quality high-resolution images for each of your blog posts, chances are that you will receive more engagement from your readers them compared to a plain bland blog post which is fully text-based.
Images are used to draw your readers into the post itself.
It’s very crucial to find an image that relates to your article and feature it prominently.
But be mindful, there is something called as downloading those images with copyright restrictions.
If you post an image with a copyright restriction on your post, you may fall into bad trouble and a lawsuit could be filed against you.
So, most of these images have copyright rules in place. Be mindful of that!
I suggest you can check out some of the websites which provide you free copyright images.
Make sure to only use those images if you don’t have a subscription to a paid stock image service.
You may wish to use Shutterstock.
They provide over 70 million stock photos, vectors, videos and music tracks which have free copyright labels and easy to download.
#5 It’s always a Good Idea to add a bit your Personal Touch
I personally feel if you want to be a good engaging blog writer.
If you make your content like a textbook type material, chances are your readers will lose interest in your content and they will not be able to engage with you.
It’s always good and fun to put yourself into the post when possible.
This helps your readers connect better with you.
Try to share your personal experience or a twist with them and let them get to know you.
#6 Avoid Lengthy Blog Paragraphs
You will observe that most of my blog posts don’t have more than 4 sentences on each of my paragraphs.
I primarily do this, to keep my blog article more scannable for my readers. It’s easy for them to have a rundown of my blog article.
Try to stick to three or four sentences per paragraph.
If you do more than that, then your readers will find it harder to read and they may eventually lose interest in your blog article.
Always better to write in shorter sentences.
Bottom line, using shorter sentences makes reading faster.
#7 Keep Your Blog Post-Short and Concise
There’s this BIG Talk of the town going around that if you really want your readers to engage with your content, you need to write a blog article with at least 1000-1500 words.
This is all rubbish!!
Well, I’m not saying it’s bad to have some longer-form posts, but not each of your posts needs to be filled with tons of information.
You should strive to keep many of your posts short.
To have a good SEO blog, it’s good to maintain 400-500 words.
#8 Always a Good Idea to Insert those Links
What do I mean by this?
Well, I am not just saying that you should include your affiliate links on each of your blog posts, but it’s always a good idea to insert a few of your links to your blog article which will re-direct your readers to see your other blog post articles.
I mean posting internal links to other blog posts on your own site that is relevant.
This helps to keep your article shorter, since, you can redirect your readers to different posts to expand on a point which you want to make.
Plus, you keep your reader on your blog site, while they are moving through other pages of your website.
That’s always a good strategy for your Blog SEO.
You may also wish to post links in your blog articles for outside sources.
But do it wisely and don’t overdo it!
#9 How Reliable is Your Source of Information
Now, this primarily applies to a researched blog article which you want to write about.
It’s always a good idea to cite your information.
Don’t just come up with facts and figures/data without citing it.
If you don’t cite your facts and data, then your readers will not take your information seriously and eventually call it a B.S. and not come back to your blog website again.
The main point here is the reliability factor and how good is your source?
#10 Always add that Conclusion
Make sure to write a Conclusion every time you use a blog post.
And label that conclusion as, “Conclusion”.
For me, having a conclusion keeps it really simple and your readers can scroll down, read your conclusion, know what your blog post is about, and decide if they want to scroll back up and read the rest of your blog article.
Having a conclusion is a great way to have a reader pattern.
